About This Work

The surface is packed with overlapping purple forms that press tightly against one another, leaving only narrow channels of black between them. In places the purple sits thick and opaque; elsewhere it thins enough for white and faint warmer tones to push through from below. The edges of each shape are irregular, sometimes soft, sometimes broken, creating a continuous low relief that shifts under even slight changes in light.

As the eye moves across the painting, the density never fully resolves. Clusters of forms open into quieter passages, then close again into tighter networks where the black ground asserts itself more strongly. Texture varies from smooth, almost polished areas to zones of dry, broken paint that catch the light differently, so the surface remains active no matter where attention settles.
